What this calculator is doing

This calculator uses the fundamental relationships between rotational and linear motion. The formulas are: For linear speed \( v \) from rotational speed \( \omega \): \[ v = \omega \times r \] Where: - \( v \) = linear speed (m/s) - \( \omega \) = angular velocity in radians per second (rad/s) - \( r \) = radius in meters (m) If rotational speed is provided in RPM, it's first converted to rad/s: \[ \omega = \frac{2 \pi \times N}{60} \] where \( N \) = rotational speed in revolutions per minute (RPM). For calculating rotational speed from linear speed: \[ \omega = \frac{v}{r} \] \[ N = \frac{\omega \times 60}{2 \pi} \] This allows you to size motors and drive components based on desired motion characteristics.
