Gear Ratio Calculator
Compute gear ratios and determine how they affect output speed and torque in a mechanical or robotic system.

What this calculator is doing
This tool calculates the gear ratio based on either:
- Number of teeth on input and output gears
- Input and output rotational speeds (RPM)
It can also compute:
- Output speed from gear ratio and input speed
- Output torque from gear ratio and input torque
Formulas
Gear Ratio:
\[
\text{Gear Ratio} = \frac{N_{\text{output}}}{N_{\text{input}}}
\]
Output Speed:
\[
\omega_{\text{output}} = \frac{\omega_{\text{input}}}{\text{Gear Ratio}}
\]
Output Torque:
\[
\tau_{\text{output}} = \tau_{\text{input}} \cdot \text{Gear Ratio}
\]
Where:
- \( N \) = number of teeth
- \( \omega \) = angular speed (RPM)
- \( \tau \) = torque (Nm)
This calculator is ideal for evaluating speed reductions or torque amplification in drivetrain design.
