Voltage Divider Calculator

The voltage divider is one of the most basic circuits in electronics, allowing you to reduce voltage to a desired level. This calculator helps you find the output voltage given an input voltage and two resistor values.

What is a Voltage Divider?

A voltage divider is a simple electrical circuit made of two resistors connected in series. It reduces a higher voltage (Vin) down to a lower voltage (Vout). This is useful when powering sensitive components, like microcontrollers or sensors, from a higher-voltage power supply.

The formula is:

\[ V_{out} = V_{in} \times \frac{R2}{R1 + R2} \]
