VO2 Max Calculator
This calculator estimates your VO₂ max — a measure of your aerobic capacity — using the Rockport One-Mile Walk Test. It provides a general indicator of cardiovascular endurance based on your time, heart rate, weight, age, and gender.

What this calculator is doing
VO₂ max (maximal oxygen uptake) is the maximum rate at which your body can use oxygen during exercise. It reflects your aerobic fitness level. One accessible way to estimate VO₂ max is through the Rockport One-Mile Walk Test. The Rockport formula is:
$$ \text{VO}_2 \text{ max} = 132.853 - 0.0769 \cdot \text{weight (lb)} - 0.3877 \cdot \text{age} + 6.315 \cdot G - 3.2649 \cdot \text{time (min)} - 0.1565 \cdot \text{HR} $$
Where:
- Weight is in pounds (lbs)
- Age is in years
- Time is how long it took to walk 1 mile (in minutes)
- HR is your heart rate at the end of the walk (in bpm)
- \( G \) is 1 for males, 0 for females
The higher your VO₂ max, the better your cardiovascular endurance. Athletes often train to increase this number.
